California Slender Salamander

Slender Salamanders in the genus Batrachoseps are distributed along the Pacific Coast of North America from Northern Baja California to Oregon. They can be found a few meters from the ocean's edge inland to the Sierra Nevada mountains. The excellent CalHerps has a very useful map showing the geographic ranges of Batrachoseps species in California.

Compared to many other North American salamanders, we know little about the behavior and ecology of Slender Salamanders.
